Huh. U have good taste. They r one of the better eating fish. I have caught them in 40 - 60' of water, SD bay. Shelter island, near porpoise/research boats. That's gonna b just north of bait receiver. They like squid and anchovies.

Like said above 40-60' I catch more around ballast point, basically any deeper structure but they can also be caught shallow. Anchovies or swimbaits with bright colors and chartreuse or orange lead head.

Thanks guys!! They tasye great. Ive always caught one or 2 as a bycatch when looking for rockfish but never caught them with regularity. Thanks again for the info, looks like ill be heading out to ballast point area on sunday

I'd be interested in joining you. Always up for learning. Haven't tried targeting rockfish or sculpin so if you're ok with a rookie taging along I'm up for it.

Am I reading wrong or does it say sculpin is open in less than 300ft? Im pretty sure I wont be that deep

I read it the same way. It's 120 ft in the Cowcod Conservation Areas.
