I had some good times fishing the mdr breakwater before.TONS of short hali's and lots of pencil barracuda before work,we were working at the Ritz Carlton and couldnt start till 9.That is one hell of a place to try to get home from at 5pm...

Usually people dont meter halibut because they lie flat on the bottom in ambush mode...

You can tell that the fish was 27-42 inches? I think I need a better FF!

Are you using a video fishfinder or the new classified 'phased array' technology for increased target separation and algorythms that can calculate target size???? Or did you just look over the side?

The one i just bought, tells me the approximate size of a big fish. The biggest one i saw on the screen was 42 inches it was chasing a school of bait fish.

The unit also features selective fish ID which although can't be completely accurate, it can give the user the ability to at least check the size of the fish before wasting time in regions which don't provide legal size fish or targeted fish and the ability to separate fish from structure identify.

Well, what iceman says its probably correct, i just bought the thing and it says "The Selective Fish ID feature provides a precise picture of sonar returns and when the very selective requirements are met, the unit displays three different fish icons representing intensity of the sonar return, and an indicator of relative fish size."

Well i guess a BIG fish icon means a really big fish and how deep he is.

that makes sense
