Hobie marketing policy is to configure their kayaks with lots of things you will want to remove and replace with upgrades .... turbofins, rudder, rectangular hatch for gear, a plastic tackle bucket that deforms and falls into the hull, etc., etc.

This how other Kayak builders , get your customers . They also box you in as a manufacturer. They counter you moves , by copying or doing it better at much lower cost .
