So the elite 4 chirp ended up catching my attention at west marine only for them to tell me it was discontinued! So my question now is, is it worth buying that unit regardless if its discontinued?

It's still a lowrance
If you grab the warranty it won't make much of a difference when it's time to upgrade .check bass pro if it is not far. If it is more than 75 miles just ship the product . They have equalvilant warranty plan . Very few questions asked when replacing unit. West marine has got me on the black list . The should also have the top current model .
