You do this because of the fact that they are dissimilar alloys and will react with each other?

Stainless has the unique qualities to WELD Its self . Even when hand tighten too just bout any other metal . Add salt water in the mix makes normal . In to a large issue , care should be taken with dissimilar metals . A Kayak is not a cheap investment
