Lube it like you mean it baby.

New kayak owner here, just bought a used Cobra Fish and Dive today and have a question for the seasoned fishermen out there. What, if any thing, do you use to lube your kayak to prevent rust? Specifically the metal parts. I only ask because I am concerned about using some kind of oil that the fish will just hate and can smell for miles away. I want to lube the hatches, where the rod holders slip into the hull, the eyelets and every other damn thing. Any advice would be appreciated.

All of that stuff should be Stainless or Aluminum, so you should not need to lube it.

I have two FnDs. Been fishing on them for almost 10 yrs.
I use WD-40 on my hatches and brass couplers. I don't
think the fish mind the smell since I catch a fish or two,
every once in awhile.

I too am a Cobra Tandem dude. 15 years now.silicon greese very very thin coat...also those eyelets are nylon (padeyes as they are called) all the rivets are aluminum so just keep on eye on that stuff they will last a long time , just hose everything downs at the end of the day. no worries..
