Transducer mounting question
This is a Humminbird 3D Wide View going on the Pro 2. It's a SHS-7W so it's a little bigger than some. They transome mount them on boats but shouldn't I mount it up front so I'm seeing what's just in front? Her's a couple pics of the 4.7. Battery is now in hull. Thanks,Paul |

It depends on the image quality you want. I prefer the puck be in contact with the water, but an in-hull wet mount is the next best thing.

I got the low down from Bill at West marine, no goop, could have air bubbles,
he gave me "G-Flex", 2 part epoxy, says it will work great for kayaks. Will make a dam and mount in the center under rear seat, still room to put rods and gear. He said he used to have a 3D, costs almost 500 in it's day, Only problem was didn't work well above 5 knots, BUT would be PERFECT for a yak. Gonna bounce ball the inshore, past the estuary mouth with the tandem today. Work on FF tonight, Perch fishing Sun-1st lite.(gonna win next months derby for sure!!!) Matt the 4.7's all you....be sure to call me....bring your seat and if you have a small 7Amp FF battery bring it. I bungee it to a tray that mounts in hull on both but I switch back and forth with my 1 battery. I have an extra 2 piece paddle if you don't want to bring yours. See ya' in a couple weeks...........Paul in Carp |
