Nice Andy. Got my replacement FF working so I'm back firing on all cylinders tonight. Hope to find a log cuda while I'm at it. Not surprisingly my hold on the YT flag was brief.

eh, who's bagging on circles?! i love them..
get the WSB out of the water so i can go back to my Owner Mutus ! is that a reverse trilene knot? that is my knot of choice for big tunas, the double reverse 3 to 4 turn trilene knot for big stuff up to 130# simple 4-5 turn reverse trilene for inshore.. i love how the knot stacks so smoothly.. get a big fish on it and the mono looks like it blends into one blob of mono! good job on the YT! |

Nice one Andy. I hope the big ones start to show a little more. You have to keep so many of the little ones for a meal .

Nice job on the yellow, Andy.
As we were heading back in, Julie managed a couple of nice bonito about 9:30AM, one on the B/W Storm plug, the other on a megabait. Otherwise, it was slow for us. You made the right call to make bait at the pier. It looked like about 10 yakkers, including us, were having a helluva time making bait past the yellow cans. We worked at it for a good hour for 6 spanish between us. Sabikis were tipped with squid, and we put out chum, to little avail. Last week it was all you wanted. Funny how quickly conditions change out there. Our luck ran out with seals stealing bait, too. We've had very good luck avoiding them for the most part. But, today one wily SOB, followed us until he got 5 out of our 6 baits. Even when we waited til he was out of sight to put the baits out, he still got 'em. The only other bait was lost to kelp. As far as that wind. It blows. Brutal for us, but I guess it depends on your kayak .

circles hooks
Andy, I love the circle hooks for slow trolling the mackerel. For fly lining sardines the j hook is the way to go. Maybe you need to work on your technique  I'll be fishing the circles in the A.M. Kelvin
