Trident 13

Thanks to Rik at OEX Kearny Mesa, I now have an OK Trident 13 sitting in my garage. Maiden voyage possible this weekend. Need to make sure it happens next weekend. I'll try the bay first. Pix later.

Congrats man, that's the Yak I want to get. I'll be joining you in a few months after I get fully cleared to Kayak.

Thanks.
When I showed it to my son, he wanted to sit in it. He then asked if I'm taking this into the ocean.. "I plan on it" - "oh sick, I'll do that with you!" - hmmm - maybe I should have gone with a tandem. Or - we were trying to figure out where he can sit. There is that back compartment where the live-bait well/bucket sits....

.. Congrats on the new ride. Now all you need is some blood on it.

...and maybe a rudder. I haven't ridden the Trident 13, but the 15 definitely
requires a rudder when the wind starts to blow. If you find the 13 starts
weather vaning, go for the rudder kit. You'll be glad you did.

At the demo days I tried the 13' and the 11' - I thought the 13' tracked a lot better.

Hoping to take it out today at Mission Bay - always depends on the boss - unless I go early in the day.

In the bay it'll track well, but if you're in the open ocean and there's a
swell or wind, you find yourself spending many strokes correcting
your track when going downwind or perpendicular to the swell direction.

Good luck with the kayak. Either way, the Trident is a great boat! I've
had mine for years and have over 1,500 miles on it.

I personally like the Trident 13 myself, I have not paddled it yet, but I know I'm going to like it from all that I have researched on them.
