Bassin' North DP 2/16
Gotta start by saying I'm super jealous of all you guys and your huge YT's and Threshers that you pull in on a regular basis. but bass are cool too!! haha!.. anyway, my name's Steve. I fish mostly in the OC area on a disabled Hobie Outback, nice to meet ya!. . . Yesterday I paddled out a little later in the day to some of my favorite spots. I cruised from rock reef to kelp bed to boiler rock and back...ended up finding a dozen or more medium sized bass and got one big Calico, that guy made my day! I fish mostly plastics and crank baits. But this season I plan on trolling around a live Mackerel more often in hopes of finally catching one of those beautiful Thresher Sharks. Here's some photos... |

Way to go and nice photos. I was there the day before with similar results. It surprised me that the temp was up to 59* and some big bass were hungry!

Nice job on those bass. That toad sure looks like
it put up a nice fight. The swells in Dana have kept me away from the southern coastline, but right off the long jetty I found some fat sandys also... The halibut bite was on a couple days ago; the rake marks were deep. I think the warmer water may turn our winter into something special. I know the Halibut crew have been spending quite of bit of time on the search... |
