Cool thread idea Andy
Is it ok if I google WSB
and post a pic?
Just so I can show the approximate size of the ones
I farmed?

Don, I caught tons of bitchen sunrises from different points of view on the water and savored every soul searching moment I had on the big blue. No porn star this year!

Andy as you know I've only been fishing La Jolla for a year and only really fished it seriously for a few months last spring before the white Seabass showed up, up here.

I caught bigger fish offshore this year, even got my first local Marlin which I've been chasing for years, but even counting my skiff fish I still got to go back to this La Jolla fish from last March as my favorite:

It's such a beautiful and pic, (thanks Josh) My second La Jolla Yellowtail (caught my first that morning) I was fishing alone and found my own fish (Josh was fishing Halibut at the time, and there was no-one else out there)

For me it just does not get much better then that.

Here's both my first and second La Jolla tail from that day
I remember at the time you told me doubles like that are one in a million. I imagine one of these days I'll get bigger or more tails on my yak, but that fish and that day is going to stick with me for a long time.

Jim

Great thread.

I am pretty proud of this one, towed me around for about a day and a half. He hit a Humboldt squid on a carolina rig I had in about 80 feet of water.

Ok, seriously, I had this one this summer when I was just starting out.....beginners luck rears its ugly head (second fish from the kayak).

it was a pretty good year, fished the bays allot, won my first tournament [OEX night tourny], caught my first WSB [juve in the bay!] and enjoyed setting up and getting used to a new yak. The picture is a Miramar LMB. Not a huge fish, but I am learning the LMB scene and I find Miramar tough to coax fish from.
Happy New Year and tight lines everyone

I think I will have to pass on this one. If you combine the weights of all the "big" fish I caught this year the total does not come close to the monster WSB that Bigbarrels caught.

Maybe next year.

My first and biggest of '09. Let's just say my goals for '10 are obtainable.

Come on Bob - you gotta have me beat...

Ok...
this is like asking a parent to choose a favorite child...
it's just not fair...
this may be selfish of me...
but...
who cares!
I'm selfish!
too many good times this year to pic one winner...
they all win!

Three new personal best bass this year.
2 3/4 lb Newport Bay spottie

6 3/4 lb Malibu calico

7 lb 13 oz Malibu sandy

all by myself in Malibu...
no one to take my pic...
laughing like a giggling idiot...
37lbs Malibu WSB

and since this "IS" a La Jolla based web site...
here is my second LJ YT...
one of only two ever caught by me down yonder...
Josh takes great pics...
makes this 21 lber look much bigger...

sorry if I bogarted this post....
I just couldn't resist...

Yakrider, we have a lot in common. Same boat, same size fish and Josh put us on both of them. Interesting.
