I got one for $30 after tax, but won't get to use it for a couple weeks. Never thought I'd spend that much on a lure, but it does look that good. Weighs about the same as a surface iron.

Dude at the counter said the guy that's makin em does it all by hand and pumps out about 12 per week and only has two tackle shops sellin em right now. Said he's lookin for an investor to get em mass produced and drop the price. He also said someone used it at Cedros and went 6 for 6 on yellows and that he and his boss have caught yellows and calicos on em too.

When I first saw em I thought it would be the perfect cabrilla bait, but after he told me the price I think I'll stick to just riskin it on yellows

bought 1 at day at the docks sorry but there crap mine broke at the tail section not made of durable material some kind of plaster composite? and u cant burn them in on retrieve or they do a tail spin mine answer is stick to the light iron worst 25$ ive spent on a lure & thats saying something

I got one before trip to San Quintin a few weeks ago. I didn't have any problems with durability or spinning on retrieval. I did catch a few Bonito and a tiny yellowtail with it. It swims really nice but so does a $7 iron. I might buy a few more if they cost $15 but not at almost $30.

but iam gonna stick
to real greenies

lost two big fish yesterday
with two live big greenies
around 9am
they kelped me
and poped off

kept me out there
for another 6 hours
damn them fish

spanish and bluey got no hits

yeah i only it bought because i had breezer yt numerous times that i followed fro 20 min or more where i threw everthing i brought iron,swimbait,croc & even live greeenies that the yt just look unintrested . thought this lure would be a good experiment on reaction bite retrieval that i could actually observe. but broke in 2 weeks before i could really use oh well u live learn how many times have u had one of these snap

none times for me !!!

I was interested in this lure so I contacted the manufacturer to see where they are being sold. They are available at Blue Water in Solana Beach and Fisherman's landing.

After reading some of the experiences that early adopters had, I forwarded a link to this thread to the owner of Aqueous Outdoors, Jeff Law. He responded immediately saying that the lure has been redesigned with more durable materials and that he would replace any of the early models that have broken. Anyone who has experienced a problem should contact Jeff at sales@aqueousoutdoors.com

His email to me is attached below.

Jeff seems like a good guy and the lure sure looks interesting. I plan on giving it a try.

Thanks for the heads up on the message board. We have changed material from the first Candy Macks we sold at the Fred Hall shows and Day at the Docks. We found an A & B part polyurethane that is super tough with just enough flexibility. Skate board wheels are made of polyurethane. I have tried to get the word out through our retailers that we will gladly replace all of the lures made from the old material. Please pass that info to the guys on the message board.

The new lures have caught 70lb yellow fin and 45lb Yellowtail on the long range boats this summer with no problems. The retail price is 29.99. The 39.99 came from an interview with ESPN sports when we first showed prototypes at ICAST 2008 and were still shopping for parts vendors.

I'm the manufacturer so don't take my word on the Candy Mack's performance vs. the iron. Check other message boards if you want to know how the Candy Mack performed this summer and fall on the long range boats. I also encourage guys to talk to the boat captains and crew. Or they can contact Jack and Fisherman's Access or Luc and Anglers Choice and get the feedback their customers have been giving them.

I saw them at Day at the docks. Cool lures but I like my irons.

36.00 on the other hand is nothing compared to Freshwater bass swimbaits. Ive paid more than that for a soft plastic swimbait. Hard baits can get ridiculous.
