I've been wanting to fish a different part of the harbor and yesterday presented an opportunity to do so. I knew there was a big tide swing but I was still surprised when I showed up and found the water level so low. I trolled a deep water crank and shallow water/rattle crank for a couple hours before this little guy attacked the rattler. I was tight to the beach in shallow, dirty water when he hit.

I know he's way small but I was stoked because it's a new species for me on the yak and I haven't caught a butt in a while....

The rest of the day was uneventful until I landed and got a laugh at the crew girls freaking out about standing in the muddy muck that smelt like rotten eggs...haha....

Looks like a fun day yak fishing.

Did you know the areas around Newport could see big fishing closures soon?

We need everyone at the BRTF meeting to ensure we can keep fishing in the safest most accessible places:

I was out there last Saturday and all the local colleges rowing crews were practicing. There were several girl crews and they had fun stepping in the mud as they exited their boats
