The Unsalty
I awoke at o'dark thirty. After a hurried breakfast of grog and mcsammiches, drove up the hills, to a mysterious place. Launched at sunrise. What is this. The water was warm, seems thinner. I took a taste. Eureka! The Unsalty Before my journey, the learned elders of my local tackle shop imbibed on my some wisdom. Head into the bluffs, they said. Therein lies the magic lines. After hours of fruitless meandering, the waters exploded with life. Blitzes the size of banquet halls appeared out of nowhere. Lo and behold, the magical lines began to appear. First came the apprentices.... I switched to enchanting the mystical lines with light irons. The deeper they sank, the bigger the lines became. It was wide open many times. Lotsa schoolies and a few going over 20 inches. My heart was racing when the blitzes started. I couldnt decide what rig to throw. Positioning the yak was also a bear due to the winds and the randomness of where the blitzes occurred. Luckily, they bit anything and everything. Got to use some kayak tricks too. PBers were casting to shore while I jigged irons 30 feet under their boats. Got me some bigguns that way This is my first time fishing for stripers in freshwater. I really didnt know what I was doing 80% of the time I was there. When it all clicked, woo hoo what fun. As tradition dictates, when I cross out a specie on my list, I bring one home to eat Called it a day when the wake board crowd showed up around noon Most fish were caught on 6 pound green yozuri combat line (discontinued). All fish were 3 pounds and under. I like this unsalty biz. /bing Last edited by peguinpower; 08-24-2009 at 10:35 PM. |
