Help with fish ID

Caught this fish yesterday off Malibu. I've never seen one before and have not been able to ID. It was black and white. Closest I have found is a China Rockfish, which is black and yellow, but not even close pattern-wise. Any ideas?

Juvenile of most species are super colorful. That BSB is no exception. Were you able to add this one to your list, Ben?
