Killed the skunk today

The wife and I have been hitting Perris lately for no love. Finally picked up a nice 17" bass today. Nothing else but the fish finder was showing tons of bait at about 15 feet down and the big fish showing at 30' even in deeper water. Everything was suspended at 30'. I still haven't located the crappie.

Nice, just one is better than none!

Throw shad jerk baits at the bank or spinner baits and you should be able to pick them off. Can even troll a deep diving crankbait as well.

I have thrown everything but dynamite. I was beginning to think my wife is bad luck.

Lake Perris ???

Glad to see you got one. Lake Perris has been difficult for me this year. There is definitely a lot of very small bait in the water. I have also visibly seen fish in the shallows and on FF.

The fish I caught have all been deeper and my last trip on Wednesday was a skunk as well. The fishing pressure seems to be very high even mid-week and there are spots of 15-foot clear to bottom visibility. I did not see one other fish caught.

I am going to take a substantial break from Perris now and focus more on saltwater. Just in time for the summer crowds and high gas prices...HA! Still more optimistic about the salt and willing to make the drive.

I think I will start hitting Mission Bay to see if I can get a legal halibut this year
