One and Done Newport 12-21

Decided to finally head out of Newport on Monday to fill up on some rockfish. Hit up my usual spots but they weren't producing. Not sure if it was the glass-like conditions or the dropping tide but all I got were the babies so I sent them back down. Only picked up one or two reds worth keeping off my next spots until I was hit with this monster. I felt a huge thump and set the hook thinking it was a sand bass on my line. Turned out to be the biggest red I've ever seen/caught. Came out to about 5 pounds or 20' It barely fit on my cutting board. Caught on flat fall

Thanks for posting. That is a toad. Any particular model of flat fall? Enjoy the catch. Happy Holidays everyone and be safe.
