Kayak Fishing The Dana Point Kelp Beds

This trip was from two Saturdays ago. It was another cold morning and the water temp was 61°.

I fished with Ryan out of Dana Point harbor, and launched at
Pure Watersports where we keep our kayaks. We headed north to herd up some Sheephead today.

They were out and about in numbers today, but nothing giant. The kelp was up and floating beautifully on the surface. It looked amazing!

I ended the day with 5 keepers from 12.25” to 13.5”. They made great fillets and some pretty delicious Ceviche!
