31 mile paddle
5:15 AM launch. Wave Buoy about 10 miles out. Underside of the buoy. Huge school of bait underneath, didn't see any predators though. 15 miles from shore, the wind died completely. The last mile, wind was moving me along at 1 mph if I stopped paddling. Garmin screenshot. |

That's a lot of miles. I like your compass mounted in the front.

Out of curiosity, how long were you out on the water?
That is some serious milage. |

Nice work Ben. Could've easily came home with the fish of a lifetime, or at least hooked into one. Rudder makes all the difference especially going down hill.
How was the color of the water on the very outside and what temp? Water at that bouy looks real nice. |

Once the sun came out it was blue and pretty good visibility, maybe 30 ft. I didn't make a note of the temp. I remember seeing 69-70 deg, but that might have been in closer to shore.

Great exercise. It would be cool to peddle to Catalina, camp/fish there for a while, then put the kayak on a Ferry for the trip back - LOL.

That's my plan in September, except replace peddle with paddle and kayak the return trip. It'll be 3 nights / 2 full days on Catalina. I'm excited about it.

Very cool. If I still lived in SoCal, I would want to tag along. The guy I sold my old PA14 to was planning to peddle to Bimini(48nmi). I told him to let me know and that I would go with him. I never heard back.
