Dana Point
My lesson use FF GPS more : At first hook-up, I marked the spot on the GPS. The current/wind was so strong that by the time I sorted out the mess, I was way off the mark. I was able to drift my GPS spot several times for about 7lbs of bait. After a few drifts, It was clear to see the structure in the area, so I just needed to be in that spot until it didn't work anymore. water mostly 71, some spots of 73. The commercial guys have all their spots marked and working hard to get more real estate. No matter how crappy a day on my kayak is, it is way better than being on a cattle boat. So for that I am very thankful. Good luck out there! |

I've never tried catching lobster before but is it generally only done at night since they're nocturnal? Thanks!

Yes. Kind of. Last season I launched at like 4 am. Set traps and made maybe 3 pulls till sun up. I think I may have caught 4, and crawl ended. Probably better luck diving for them during the day.
