Hatch opinions

We have a couple of ocean Malibu two kayaks and they accept an eight inch hatch. The OEM hatch is about $80, which seems really steep. Anyone have experience with the cheaper hatches off of amazon? I see them from about $10 up.

Do you mean you have Ocean Kayak Malibu 2's? I had a Malibu 2xl that I fished solo. Great kayaks. For hatches I don't go cheap, get the OK ones.

I have the model Malibu 2. We have two of them.

Is the OK hatch the Gaspachi brand?

I installed these 6” hatches on my Malibu two. They just fit without overhanging the edge of the hatch platform.

Yes, the Gaspachi Hatch is what you want. Do you have the oval or round hatches? The round hatch could be done with the ones suggested. For oval, I'd definitely go Gaspachi.

Thanks. I think the 8 inch would fit too but I don’t have a measurement of the space available.

All three are round on the Malibu 2. The XL has the oval in the middle.
