SD Bay with Bubbacee7 & FishinMike

Good afternoon fishing family,

Fishinmike and I went out this morning at Kellogg at approximately 630 this morning. Ran into a couple other yakkers. They shared a nice lighting set up which they made with LED strips and a buoy. Appreciate the information. Launched from Kellogg and went straight out to the lower range marker. Water cool and calm and no breeze. Immediately hooked up into a couple spotties. Drifted towards the Shelter Island pier where Fishinmike was. Hit a hole where I caught several sandies. He had caught several there too. We made our way to NASNI where we both caught several more. About 1030 we were back at the lower range marker hooking up. It was all ended when a group of sabots came out and surrounded Fishinmike. He had no casting room.

Final Count:
Bubbacee7 - 15 spotties, 5 sandies and 1 puffer(?)
Fishinmike - 6 spotties, 4 sandies, 4 Macks and 1 mantis.

Thank you to all who serve in uniform.

Enjoy and may the fish be kind.

Sounds like a fun day on the water. Never heard of puffer fish in SoCal when I lived there. Are they more common now due to El Ninos ?

Not sure John. I included a picture thinking I might get some help identifying it.

Looks like one of the many varieties of puffer fish that I sometimes see and once in awhile catch in Sth Florida, (water temps in low to mid 80's). I have read that some species are consider a delicacy, but are deadly poisonous to eat if not prepared properly.

Mark I was going to cast into its wake but thought it would be unpatriotic.
