LJ Sunday 7/22

Water was green and mixed up. Lots of current and wind. Was going to launch the Solo at La Jolla but chickened out and launched in MB and came in the long way. Could see fish in my normal spots but they would not chew. Caught 8 took home one sculpin and one calico for ceviche.

So do you have a Soloskiff? How's the beach launch with that boat?

I haven't tried yet... I drove onto the beach and was about to but I was by myself and do not like leaving all of my stuff on the beach while I go get my van. I don't see it being a problem, I just have too much gear to leave on the beach when its crowded. If you get one you will definitely need a seat for ocean fishing, kills the back without it.

I was out yesterday, on Sunday.
Short PM run, stayed closeby.
Windy!! Some rough seas out there.
Beautiful sunny day.
74 greenish water inshore.
Nicer blue color to it 6 miles out at the deep water.
Tons of terns working red crab at the ridge. Super lively. Whales were out too. Wild Animal Park.
Liltle cooler at the 9, 73.
Found some paddies closer - empty.
No Dorado. C’mon, it is their time.
Soon after, we ran into nice size school of yft just on the back of the 9.
20-30 “normal” SoCal size. User friendly size.
They didnt want to eat anything we served. Those Yft with Bft personality.
18 miles out of MB, but maybe only 10-12 out West ftom the shore.
Further South. Just sayin’. Movin’ up?

Gotta love this time of the year.
There’s fish everywhere.

Not worried about the launch as much as I am worried about someone swiping rods, tackle, fishfinder, etc while i'm waking to get my car. I will probably launch there soon when I go with a friend.
