Battle of the Bays...This Saturday...Dana Point
We'll award the Hobie Pro Angler 12 to any registered participant that can beat Tony Park's 52.25" bag of bass from the SM Bay tourney. All the pre-fishing has indicated that the big bass are biting and we may see a new leader this Saturday. The Bixpy Jet kit will go to the angler that catches a bass bigger than Dale Shaw's 19.25" Barred Sand Bass this Saturday. At our Captain's meeting last Saturday, Thomas Palica was the winner of the last of 4 Phenix Rods awarded to the first twenty that register at each event…congratulations Thomas. You can still link to the iAngler app through our web page at www.battleofthebays.com and then register and pay through PayPal at the iAngler site. This is a list of participants for Saturday's event in Dana Point: As of Monday 6/9… Grant Osborne James Scarcella Randy Theraldson Don Bell Shawn Grimm Daniel Chavez Ken Schroder Greg Williams Diego Gamboa Greg Barnicoat Al Chavez Thomas Palica Tim Boyer Thaomas Warsheski Charles Hammond Hitomi Hammond Louis Verdugo Dale Shaw Alan Wagner Tony Park Steven Green Wayne Palica Andrew Allen Wanda Allen Frank Santiago Rob Lee Paul Lebowitz Flip Hickson Derwin Chang Ronald Coon Melissa Jeffries Eric Vinson Cameron Chang Ken Rosburg Cindy Kelley Randal Hooper Daniel Jones Glen Frasier Al Figueras Michael Ponce Gilbert Hernandez Tim Fuentes Jared Advincula David Cheaney

It's gonna be like taking candy from a baby! I'm not even a bass fisherman!
Thank's Jim for putting in all the time and work to put this Tournament Series together. It's all for a good cause and hopefully we can get more participation from the community, as there are lots of great bass fisherman out there. So if your one of those "great bass fisherman"....easy money! Hopefully those fish don't shut off on Tournament day as they are known to do...Makes you wonder sometimes.... COME GET SOME!!!!!!

Big Head...
Somebody please help Tony save some money by winning this last tourney...otherwise he's going to have to turn his truck into a convertible so he can fit his Big Head in there...LOL...
There are a few locals in this next event that can take home the bacon...and the PA... We're up to 33 registered...

Just got through reading the rules. Wanted to ask if the participants were allowed to use their hand to hold down the fish in the midsection while taking the picture? Just couldn’t exactly tell one way or the other from the rules.

Yes. They actually have you write your number on your hand so that they know it’s a photo from that day. And they give you a colored Velcro strap to use as well. Also a good idea to pinch the tail closed to make sure you’re getting as long a measurement as possible. Last edited by TomGrande; 07-11-2018 at 08:39 PM. |

That right
Yea...you can use your hand to hold the fish along with the colored velcro marker given out at the check-in on Saturday. You can't use a fish grip as it pushes the fish back and makes it harder to accurately measure the bass.
If you hold the fish on the trough with a fish grip and then put a wet towel over the fish while you get your phone/camera ready...then take the grip and towel off while holding down the bass and finally take a good clear photo of the whole fish... CPR is kinda tricky at first but it's really good for the release of the fish and the health of the resource. Pinching the tail is allowed and it can give you that winning 1/4"...! It looks like Tom's photo was part of the Mity Might contest as he has the rod in the photo. See you all Saturday...!
