April Fools Day on SD Bay

Happy Easter and happy April Fools’ Day fishing family,

Went out and fished San Diego Bay today by myself. FishinMike could not make it as he had to work. Most of the morning was foggy with overcast. Water was cold no breeze. Water looked a lot like glass. Launced from The shelter Island yacht basin. Nothing hit on the troll except for one mackerel. Not many out on yaks. Hardly any bites at lower range marker. One Spottie there. Moved down towards the shelter Island pier. Got hit hard by a 13 inch Sandie. Caught 2 more and a fat mack. Did not see too many fish being caught by other fishermen on yaks or on motorboats. Wind really picked up about 10 AM. Thought the fog was going to burn off but the second bank rolled in over Point Loma. Cool and moist. Overall it was an ok day.

3 Spotties, 2 macks, 1 spottie & 2 nasty lizard fish.

I put the Solo skiff in at J street and worked north from the Cay's to Coronado bridge. Very slow day, caught 5-6 spotties - most of them up by the bridge, used the wind to drift from bridge piling #10 out to the channel hoping for a halibut, but just a few spotties decided to play. Wind really started picking up so I headed back south. I didn't see anyone catch anything either, so I guess we had about the same day on the water.

Baja I haven’t tried the bridge but would like to. Maybe I will see you out there some time.
