SD Bay Sand Bass

Picked up two legals on the 2nd and 3rd cast after getting broke off on the first cast. Launched at the beach by the SI Launch Ramp and didn't have to go far. Picked these up between the moorings and the fishing Pier in 35-40'.

5" Swimbait with 3/4 kz head.

Well done. I caught a couple that size couple weeks ago using sardines.
After first one, I released thinking I don't want to keep only one as I was heading back, next cast, got a second one even better. Feeling dumb, just released the second also.

I may be wrong but I'm fairly sure that sand bass usually run in groups so I find that is I get one and I can usually get more.

Example being today, first cast was hit and broke off. After tying a new bait on I went back to the same spot and the next cast was a winner. Went back to the same spot again and won again. I struck out after that but I have some tacos for the wife and I. Also those were actually the first keeper catches for the current yak.

Btw, don't eat too many servings in a given period from SD bay. Water isn't the cleanest

Taco Time!

I made the tortillas and the wife made a jalapeno cilantro aioli to go with the basics.

Very tasty!
