limits

Hey Andy, you may have caught two Yellowtail, but I got limits!!!

Of Lizardfish. I never did get a Yellow. That Pelican did me in when it flew into my line as I cast into boiling fish. Chased more birds a couple of miles outside but it was porpoise on the bait. Water outside was beautiful blue and 62. I hope that water moves inshore. Turned out to be a nice morning after the offshore winds died out. Nice morning for you Andy. 8) I'll be back on Wednesday or Thursday for redemption!

Crap!!!

I am working PM shift today, I lined it up so I could fish Monday morning on the yak, that was the plan. I gave up last night as my lady was pissed that I fished 2 out of 4 days of thanksgiving holiday... I didn't want to make it any worse.

WTG Andy... Now - THAT fish may seal it. Right on!!

It was freakin cold before dawn, 48 degrees. The wind had been blowing 10-15 kts out of the east all night long. Launching at first light, the wind had died to about 8 kts or so. Surf was 1-2 foot hightide sloppy 4 second crapola. Took my time and sprinted out dry. When it is cold that is very important . I just brought 2 sticks and some iron. Started off with a couple sandbass on the 7X glow. Saw birds out further early, but did not feel like charging out another 1/2 mile. When the wind is blowing offshore, it makes me uneasy. Later I could not resist a big bird pile, but before I got to them about 1000 cormorants busted up the birds and scattered it. Now birds were sitting all over the water and as I headed in. Looking back 100 yards behind the birds were going nuts. Kelvin slid in on the outside edge and I worked the inside. All I had were my yoyo sticks and heavy iron. Near me birds were diving everywhere, but only a boil here or there. I got bumped good on the retreive and threw it out again. Bumped hard, but did not stick. Then I just dropped it straight down and halfway to the bottom put it in gear 3 or 4 cranks and bendo. 15 pound YT onboard. Kelvin motored over and we were shouting back and forth and I dropped down, hit bottom and 10 cranks or so and bendo. Fish felt alot bigger than the first, but surprisingly only went 20 pounds. It was around 10:30 and I was running late, so left Kelvin to try and wack em. Thanks for the picture Kelvin and the wahoo . Hope I can return the favor next time. I really should take my 20 points and concentrate on work, but I will likely have to get back out there before the week is over. There really looked to be a good volume of fish in this school. The never ending yellowtail season

Great pics and fish!
Kelvin- sorry you missed them, are you heading out tomorrow? I think I'm coming down with that weird flu bug that's going around.

I was going to go but I sold my Kayak to a guy in LA and he picked it up Saturday Morning. I have my new one on order but this really makes me look like an idiot. I was playing golf at the club and the whether unbelievable. I was really kicking myself, especially since the golf game was'nt going to well I need to check my Priorities and get my butt fishing more....I've gotten seriously lazy since becoming Executive Chef. Whatch Out 2006 :!: :!:

Matt:

Did they promote you to Executive Chef so fewer people would get food poisoning?

Like you, I've been out so little the last several months with everything else going on, and my only window being the weekend (and mostly saturdays) that it's almost painful to read the posts... especially the weekday posts.

Which boat are you waiting to receive?

Oh, and nice going again, Andy!
