MDR Friday - Anyone else interested?

I'll be headed out to MDR tomorrow (8/11) looking for larger models of bass and the occasional by-catch Hali. Low tide is at 6:17, so ideally I'd like to be out at the break wall as early as possible to take advantage of the full tide swing.

If anyone is interested in joining, I'll be in my midnight camo ride 135. Feel free to come by and say hi. I always prefer to venture out past the wall with company when possible...

I was out there last weekend and there was lots of bird life on santa monica bay. turned out to be the biggest mackerel I've ever seen eating anchovies. Good fun on light tackle.

I won't make it out tomorrow but maybe we can meet up some time to fish the bay.

I may be out there tomorrow. Not sure yet.
I'll say hi if I see you. Camo Trident 13. There are some artificial reefs about 2 miles off Venice pier that I explored a bit before but haven't checked them out in a while. Seemed pretty dead but you never know. No gps on the fish finder so I have to just cruise around. I would like to revisit them. Maybe tomorrow if I can get out.

Sorry guys, I had to bail. Between a last minute work request and wifey wanting a date night, fishing took a backseat for today.

Steve, I'd be super interested to explore that area more than I have. The reef you are talking about is visible from google maps. Its about a 6.5 mile round trip paddle from the public ramp in MDR to the reef.

Also, there is some leftover breakwall in Santa Monica that is rumored to be holding some tank Cali's. Shouldn't be too bad of a beach launch from SM, but it would be hell to land once the beach traffic picks up....

Yep, I had to bail too. Getting some work done on my house and had to meet the plumbers this morning. I've been wanting to check that wall out as well. Not too far from the artificial reefs or MDR.
Good excersize. I'll let you know the next time I go out and maybe we can meet up.
Cheers, Steve

Would love to join for a session to the artificial reef/wall. I don't mind launching and paddling from MDR. I have a tandem and I'll bring a big cooler.

Sounds like a plan.

I'll start a new thread to see what kind of support we have for this!
