Rods ans reels for sale.

New Okuma Makaira 701ML, 7', 12-20lb. ALPS reel seat with X-tube. $80
Great little rod for halibut, bass, and shallow water

Used custom Calstar 660 20-50lb, cork grip: $70
Used Shakespeare Intercoastal, 7' 12-25lb: $15

Used Daiwa Sealine 40 HV (4.9:1 gear ratio) - fresh service, loaded with 65lb braid. some scuffs on the sideplate rings, but that's about it. Reel hasn't seen much use at all. Just knicked from being moved around. $55 w/braid. $45 w/o.

Smoking deal on the trini, if I didn't have two 16s I would be all over this.

I might be interested in that Okuma stick.

Think it might be sensitive enough and have enough backbone to use as a inshore "drop shot" rig? If not, what would you suggest its best fit? I've been using a MH Helios rod (its way lighter than advertised) that I'm not quite in love with...

The tip is quite sensitive. And it should have plenty of backbone for pulling fish away from structure. I could see it as a bass, halibut, shallow water rockfish (swimbaits) stick. Should be good for dropshot from boat or kayak. Maybe a little heavy for that application from shore.
Should even handle small tuna just fine.

Overall build quality is excellent on the makaira rods. How often do you see aluminum reel seats on a 12-20 lb rod? Even at retail (around $150 I think), you get a lot for your money with these.
