Figured I'd share this pic of the Jewel. Imagine having a kayak back then.

A kayak would be nice. What would be really great is to have been there then and smart enough to buy some of that available land in LJ.

BUYING LAND. I love this stuff... after some quick research I found this (not exactly La Jolla but you get the idea):

"4669 East Talmadge Drive and, by the end of March, May and Miracle sold the house to Ridy and William Lindstrom for $9,500"

What is this home worth today? maybe a cool $1m?
http://www.trulia.com/homes/Californ...Diego-CA-92116

so what is $9500 in today's dollars back in 1931? In 2015, the relative value of $9,500.00 from 1931 ranges from $122,000.00 to $2,200,000.00. (according to https://www.measuringworth.com/uscom...ativevalue.php)

so buying cheap in San Diego in 1931 was still pretty damn expensive. I noticed you could be a home in Mansfield OH for half that price at this time.

bottom line...I need to get out more AND IMHO Real Estate is a fine asset that will protect you from the decline/collapse of fiat currency.
