Cedros Island

First time posting up to BWE

Took the wife to check out the island and our new set up. She loved the tackle shop and the house. With the addition all complete, we now have 5 bedrooms and 3 full baths.

Took her out for a peddle in the Hobie Outback and that worked out great. Calicos were biting and I was able to get her on a couple of fish. Now she wants a Yellowtail hahahaha. Careful what you ask for down here as it could be a 50. She actually did really great and handled herself very well for being her first time on a kayak. The Hobie Outback is such a great ride!

Overall super stoked that she dug it soo much. Green lighting me for tons more time down there now!

Heading back May 16-20 Yellows should be whipped up by then and ready to eat

Jeff

I recently saw an episode of kayak fishing at Cedros on the World Fishing Network. Huge calicos. Were you affiliated with the show?

No that is Jim Sammons and he uses Cedros Outdoor Adventures. He brings his own kayaks. They drive all the way to Punta Eugenia and the pangas go across and pick them up. I saw the show too. Good Yellows and Calicos. Very informative. We access the spots he was at using our truck and trailer which makes it nice and easier to get around the island along the South end.

I have fully outfitted Hobie Mirage Outbacks on the island ready to fish with bait tanks, Lowrance color fish finder/gps units, VHF radios, rod holders, gaffs, game hooks, and leaches for all your stuff. We have been using them and having great catches on Calicos, Halibut and WSB in shallow. Yellows should start biting next month

Fishing

Did Karie out-fish you with beginners luck...?
You said you also caught a WSB...did it bite on the plastic?
That's a long drive to Punta Eugenia...I think I'd rather use your new Outbacks!

Haha yes she was enjoying herself for sure. We did get a legal WSB (little guy) and he became dinner that night over the mesquite. With your mango salsa and fresh made tortillas from the tortilla factory and ice cold Tecate next to the fire we were in heaven!
