Punta chivato is a beautiful place. Awesome warm clear water. The beaches are prestine. Hotel serenidad in mulege is a very nice place to stay at. strong fish bowl margaritas and will take whole fish and cut them up for your tacos. Might be dorado around by end of May. If you have a chance to check out bajia conception I would. Its bad ass. Havent done much fishing around there but I know from san bruno down to the bajia, there is some great dorado fishing. Be prepared for some heat. Ive seen 114 degrees in that area a couple times. Good luck

Danny...we should talk. That place is my old stomping ground. There's a blue lobster hiding throughout the reefs...small carapace, BIG tail...good for taking "photos" when found, lol.
Pangeros always said big Tigers roam the Islands next to the deep water... If the big squid are around, don't dive at night...you will be dragged down to the depths and eaten...1" square bites at a time. But I've got some spots for you for sure... Jim

Concepcion is one of my favorite places Ive been in Baja. Not for the fishing but its unique geography --was able to dogpile a UCSB trip group while there and learned a lot. I could spend weeks there. I saw amazing natgeo stuff diving around in the bay and mangroves. The water was super salty and I was way more buoyant than I was used to. It stung the eyes.
Mulege is very interesting too w the river. It reminded me of an oasis. Keep an eye on the Sierra. If theres thunderstorms up there the water in the river can go to flood fast w fair weather at the mouth. Enjoy the trip and take your time to explore as much as you can.

Man that's a long way to go for 4 days. You can find a little beach road from San Bruno to Punta Chivato that has many great camping spots. The road from Mex 1 to Punta Chivato is not a good road. Camping is the only option at Chivato these days. I was in that area last May and found Lotz of roosters but non of any size. The locals say the Dorado fishery had really gone downhill in the last 5 years. Mulege and Chivato have several Dorado tourneys every year and a he largest fish weighed in over the past 2 years has been 12 lbs. Definitely amberjack on the reefs. Sharks were a problem for me. Lost $50 worth of XRaps in about 30 seconds. Hotel Rossman is always open if you get nearby.

I know it's a lot of driving, I don't really mind I just have PARGO on the brain and wanna do a surgical strike before my last remaining dive buddy moves back east.

Best to reserve a full week for that one - Don't push the envelope and end up as a marker on the side of the road we all salute to as we drive by...
Love that place - Here's Conception: |

Dang it...my buddy and I came across a wicked head on accident where people were covered up on the side of the road...this took place in between Guerrero Negro and Santa Rosalia...a 4 hour stretch...By the time we hit Guerrero Negro two hours later...there goes the ambulance for a two hour drive to the scene...we were like wtf? More people will be dying...
