Malibu Stealth Series X Wing Console Inquiry
Hello there, I'm wondering how this Console works when it is supposed to be detachable? Of course, I may be confused, but I am inquiring about the X-Wing Sliding Console with switches for the Malibu Stealth Series... I just purchased my first Yak' a Malibu Stealth 14 and am looking to accessorize it, any help is greatly appreciated.
How does this Sliding X Wing Console work with say, a Fish Finder? If the Transducer is under water, and the device is attached to the console, but I need to detach said console to transport.. Does the Fish Finder Display device like link bluetooth style with the transducer underneath, or is there a way for me to attach/ detach wires as I remove the X Wing? Any advice/experience would be greatly appreciated as I am wanting to Add the X Wing Console with Switches for Fish Finder, Aerator for Livewell/Bilge Pump/LED Lights/ USB Charger and other electronics to this Console/Kayak, is it this customizable? Thanks |

You'd have to remove the wire from the FF and the battery to remove the console if the transducer is mounted to your kayak. Not a big deal. Or you could mount the transducer to an arm attached to the console so it all comes off in one piece..
There's been discussions here before, do a search for x-wing. You'd probably be better off with gear track or Scotty mounts. Check this thread for some pro's and con's. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwevb/s...ghlight=X-wing

Stay away from x-wing.. Not worth it and makes fishing difficult. There is a reason you never see one out on the water.

I have a Malibu Stealth 12 as well and had been wondering the same thing. But after looking at them, it seemed to me that it might get in the way and might be more of a hindrance than a help. Instead I installed Ram mounts with Scotty Rocket Launchers with the FF in between them and that has worked out just fine.
I also have a Malibu X Factor but decided that it was already kind of big and heavy to be adding an X-wing to it. I think that you have more flexibility if you put things where you actually want and need them rather than where the X-wing forces you to put them. It's not a bad product by any means, and if I wasn't using my kayak strictly for fishing, I might install it on the Stealth 12. But as I fish, I don't want any more 'stuff' getting in my way than there already is.

Wow
Thanks for the input guys, really opened my eyes. Now that I look at it, the Stealth 14' is massive enough, there should be no issue with getting the FF mounted somewhere cleanly along with other devices I may want installed.. That makes perfect sense because I read a few other posts that pointed out how it gets in the way when you are fighting a whopper off the bow... Also, in another post, a user mentioned the Fred Hall Annual show coming to Long Beach / Del Mar next month! Super stoked and am more than likely attending a day at least to check out the newest out there in the industry.. Can't wait to pimp my baby out

x-wing
I have a stealth 14 and I purchased the x-wing and couldn't be any more happier. I have my fish finder mounted to it, along with two rod holders and a few other accessories. The 12v battery that powers the fish finder and some lights for night time fishing is housed within the x-wing. It works well for my needs and it does not get in the way. The x-wing is mounted to a sliding track system. I simply slide it closer to me whenever I need to get my rods or make adjustments on the fish finder, then slide it towards the front so it's out of the way. It's not mandatory, but if it's in your budget, would be a nice addition to have, If you have a use for it.
