No Tuna Tues at DP

Mike and I launched from Dana Pt at 0630 and there already was a line of about 20 pb at bait barge. Got in line and 2 considerate boats told us to go in front of them cuz we would not take that much bait and it would take us longer to go offshore. I hope the favor was returned to them w a good catch today! Filled up w big 'dines and easily made a couple macs as we passed pipe. Passed the barber poles and soon hit the canyon to be greeted by beautiful blue-green water and an eight foot, olive green escort, along the side of my yak. The hammerhead was quite amazing and seemed to glow in the water. He quickly left after realizing I wasn't Yani coming out to feed him.
Paddled out about 4mi in calm seas and light breeze and the temp read a constant 71* all the way from harbor. Unable to find a warm current (74* last Wed) and seeing no fishing boat clusters on horizon we turned back and enjoyed catching several big calico bass at the pipe. Talked to a boat returning to harbor w 2 dorado and 4 YFT that were taken much further offshore. They were just out of reach for kayaks today.

I was out today and it was a show yellowfin boils and birds everywhere ..To many goons out running over schools of fish and sinking them out . Found a sweet kelp when I arrived there were two boats parked right on top of it,, they moved on . I stayed and
Tossed out a few dead dines from the tank few smaller blue Dorado leaped out from the kelp and took off guess it was there chance to excape the kelp rape .
