I was there this morning 5am - 7am. Most yakers went home with 1 WSB after 30 minutes of fishing. Squid is thick all over the place.

Mine 3 weeks ago had 12 in the belly! And a fishing buddy pulled up squid egg sacks!

I'd bring a white yoyo, or squid jigs!

Have some time off tomorrow morning. Might drive by to check it out. If surfs not too bad, might have to get my feet wet.

so LA the drive there sucks, the surf will kill you and you have a 1 hour window to maybe catch a fish and then get harassed by a hammerhead or giant fish stealing mako, then loaded up you find somebody stole your catalytic converter..........I have been talkin myself out of running up there for the last month or 2

I just look at it as a challenge. Everyone who has taken the obstacles have been nicely rewarded on at least one of their attempts. But doesn't necessarily mean success every time either, ( from what I hear and from my experiences there as well).

Last time, my buddies and I literally watched for about 30 minutes two guys coming in. Both landed differently, but did so without eating sand ! Landing sure takes some patience there, but isn't impossible.

For me the landing has never been the issue, it's the launching that beats me up. Especially when I use to launch with my old slow ass outback. Fun times

Yup that's an outback for you. Slow to launch as it takes some power to get the momentum going but on the plus side as long as I'm facing the waves I have yet to fall over after the first wave to the face. Second wave it's a different story.

I'm going to check it out as well and figure out if worth taking kayak down but like Andy said the window is small and you can't be on the water past noon as wind always gets nasty.

Good luck guys!

Don't plan on staying long. If everything works out I'll be in the water by 6am and off by 8am, hopfully with some extra cargo. Conditions look good according to my wind alert & surf app, but you never know until you get out there.

From what I've been seeing online 7-8 footers and 15-20 mph winds
