Personal best Ventura

So my buddy mo and I slept in and got on the water rather late by 11 am. Fished hard up the line with not much to show for it ... Hit some deep structure and just got kind of burnt out and was drifting a Spanish Mac in about 80 feet . We where discussing how slow the day was and about the wind coming up when booom my rod starts peeling ! Personal best and first Hali on the yak 43 inch 31 lb halibut o ya and I finally popped my gaffs cherry !

Congrats on a pig.

Your first Hali comes in at 31 pounds? Wtf?

It's all downhill from here.

Congrats on a nice fish .
Nice launch conditions also .
FFY
If you don't mind me asking...where abouts in Ventura is that? I live just inland over the 126 hwy. I've been to many beaches in the area and that doesn't look familiar with those conditions!
If you'd rather not disclose, that's OK I'll spend the summer doing recon.

Thanks fellas ! This probably wouldn't have happened atleast so soon into kayak fishing career without BWE , especially since my last post a fee months ago asking for help and Dave came to the rescue ! Learned tons from you guys and even more from Dave and mo.... With still tons more to keep learning.
Special thanks to Dave k and mo

Sweet fish!!! How do you rig your line when drifting? Do you use a Carolina?

You got good karma all I provided was coaching and a game clip. That's what you get for feeding an injured bird that followed you around while drifting.

Btw having seen 3 get caught all the halibut reacted different. This one did not freak out at all compared to other 2. The only common thing is all three men screamed and hollered like girls in excitement after landing it
