Late La Jolla Report

Bert and I hit up La Jolla Saturday morning around 5am, not a soul in site until we were unloaded and about to head out. This was the first time I have launched in "blackness" and have to say it got the heart beating. We both headed out and made bait in the grey light and fly lined macs around the corner and south until around 10am. Tons of bait everywhere, but no yellows to be had. Changed it up around 11 and decided to fish for calico, Bert on the swimbait jig and I on the 1oz megabait in mack pattern. After zigzagging around for an hour we metered some fish and Bert hooks up a nice fatty.

I minute latter I hook up with a bit smaller model. 12.67 miles in the PA and a fine day on the water.

It was a great day. Like always had a awesome time. Even if I forgot my hat and sunglasses. Let me know when you want to go again.

Nice fish! I always love the variation of colors on the calicos, from super crisp and light to that burnt orange.

Thanks. I really like catching calico. They are good fight and better table fare. I too like the way they look.
