Newport / Corona Del Mar Kayak Launch Areas

I'm planning on moving to Irvine and was wondering if anyone has gone kayaking for lobster there. It looks like the closest area is the jetty by Corona Del Mar.
Where do people launch from?

The state beach closes at 10 (if you launch here, do you park outside up the hill? That's a long haul to bring a kayak back to your car).

Any other areas to launch and not worry about your car being past curfew? I usually go until midnight. I see something called Kid Beach on Channel Rd that might be possible. Any ideas?

Newport harbor coast guard station. Free easy parking till ten. Have parked there past ten without issues. However if concerned about following the rules park on the street right outside of the coat guard station.

Good luck finding lobsters there.

Thanks! Is that the only location? Do people stick to the jetty or go inside the bay? It seems packed of moored boats.

I always launch on M Street dock. No curfew parking since its a residential area. And its just a tad bit of a shorter paddle than the CG station.

Something I should know about lobsters there? Do they not go around that area?

Unless you're a lobster whisperer, I'd have to agree with StinkyMatt. Good luck finding lobsters there.
