Sd bay today

Went out with my buddy today to the bay to catch halibut...Launch around 730am didnt hit bait barge till 8 or so because we went against the tide, long story short I luckily landed one around 945am a lil past SI pier... 26'' my friend hooked up but lost it right when it went topside...we'll get that guy next! Sure feels good catching that first legal butt in a kayak!

thanks Jim! I kinda noticed that the carolina rig with trap hook worked better than 3 way swivel setup and that other setup I dont know the name of...I used a 15lb flouro and i got a few short ones after...also was using anchovies...also there are some big ones out that are really smart stealing your bait...it seems like you have them for a moment and you know that its huge then they seem to shake off that hook off of them...they're big for a reason!

Nice going. Saw you out there around the bridge, was tossing for bass all morning. Rather slow start but the day ended all right.

Very nice Hilife! Keep up the good work. There's plenty out there. Hope to run into you on the water sometime.

Nice one! At least one of us took home some fish that day at SI. I got 2 shorts and a legal that broke off at color.

Nice job and congratulations on your first! Halibut fishing is quite the addiction, no?

Go get another one.

It's sorta is addicting...I was using 15lb flouro but should I go heavier like 20lb flouro or even 30lb for bigger halibut out there?

We'll get em next time J!

Nice fish. I have done really well targeting them.

I really want to go Halibut fishing, it just that I am targeting another species right now.
