Moken's New Lure Kayak
Here is the new LURE kayak that FeelFree is going to put out and I'm sorry but it just doesn't look right to me. http://www.kayakfishingmagazine.net/...oken-lure.html Not only that but I have found a major issue with the front hatch and how it leaks and all I'm being told is it has been corrected. I cannot stand behind a product that is not going to have the true backing of the company selling it. I can't get the team leader to back up the warranty on the boats, I can't get an answer for any of those questions. I've stepped down as a Promotional Staffer because I feel there's a lot that isn't being told to the public about the boats, and I cannot try and sell you something that I don't feel will be a good sale at this time. I like my current Kayak and can fix the leak, but for those who have purchased Mokens I hope the company will stand behind them and replace or fix the kayaks as needed.

I didn't Demo a Hobie BUT it's partially because of Hobie, Malibu, Ocean Kayak, and the other well known kayak companies that I am doing this. I know that if there is an issue with any of those other kayaks the top companies will stand behind their product, a buddy that was recently let go from the Moken Team bought a NEW boat and Moken did not offer to fix it, they terminated him from the Pro Staff team.
I like the idea of being a Promotional Rep/Sales rep for a company, but not if I'm going to be asked to push something that is a HUGE safety issue. Anyone who has paddled a Kayak knows water should not be in the hull, and when you land a kayak and there's GALLONS of water inside, that's not good. I've owned 7 total kayaks and 2 of the 7 were bone dry when I landed and those were both Prowler kayaks that did not have any hatches installed other than the factory installed bow hatch. I will be posting a Youtube video for those who have bought a Moken to check their hatch and have it fixed or fix it themselves.

Yes, I was testing the waters to see if anyone is interested in it. I had not left the Moken Team until about an hour ago. Let's just say the teammate was let go last week for speaking honestly about the kayak and the leak issue. He was totally setup, and then let go the next day.
Here's the video I put up about the hatch that FF claims is the driest on the market. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJW6YBABah4 When my former teammate pointed this out in a PM he was terminated for it. We all know that SOT kayaks leak at times, but I've seen Malibu, Hobie, OK and WS step and offer to fix these issues and instead of fixing my buddies leak, they terminated him from the team for saying something about it. It wasn't like the guy put it out on a website or offered it up, he was PMed by the team captain, or someone very close to him, and asked his honest opinion. I thought Private Messages were supposed to handled that way. Oh well, I'm moving on. I just want to be sure no one gets hurt on their kayak, or screwed by the company they buy it from.

If Malibu can get away with leaking, why not Moken

But I've heard and read stories on here where Malibu and others stepped up to try and correct the issue. The issue was brought to the team captain and dude got cut from the team about it. Then I bring it up and all that is said is it's been fixed. I have pulled hatches from the Malibu kayaks, and Ocean Kayaks and at least they made a real attempt and sealing the hatches. Thank goodness for Marine Goop.
It is an easy fix but when someone pays $1200 for a kayak they hope they will not have to smear Marine Goop around the hatches to seal something that should be newly sealed.

Say what you want that's your choice, but the fact is the Kayak had a leak, and yes, that can be fixed, but at no time however I did not see any information stating that the maker of the kayaks would stand behind their product and offer to repair or replace the kayak. For a company to terminate someone's Pro Staff contract, like they did to my friend, for speaking their truthful opinion about the product sounds like a wonderful pro staff to be a part of. I have a feeling that none of the other Pro Staffs are being run the way the Moken Staff is. If that means I never get to be on another Pro Staff, fine, I can handle that, but I will not but anyone's life at risk or Promote a product that could rip someone off or get them hurt. Thank you Bus Kid.

Good on JimmyZ for stepping up!. He has the foresight to know that a company that won't stand behind its product won't last long in the marketplace.
I won't now or ever tolerate even one drop of water in my kayak. If there is a drop in there after my use I will find where its coming from and eliminate. Water does not belong in the bilge of a kayak. Btw, I think you meant "pot shots" not poop shots! |

Water leaking in the kayak isn't always a bad thing. When I first gooped my transducer inside my yak and took it out for a test run, it was not working properly and displaying all sorts of wierdness. Then then some water leaked in through the hatch and filled up the air bubbles in the goop and fixed the signal, a perfect wet mount transducer

Almost bought one simply because of that "super dry" hatch.
