A wet launch but even a wetter landing. Spent 1 hr. at the peir trying to make bait in the dark with no luck . Just before it started to get grey light I put on a couple rapalas and did a large loop starting on the north side of the canyon and finishing up going over the kelp,no love. Tried yoyo, plastics, and krocks but nothin. They're were some big swells today and from a couple of directions and it make for a choppy rough day almost lost my balance a couple times. Water was dirty in most areas, green and brown in color. The wind picked up in the last couple hours. On the return to the beach I decided to stow away the rods and secure all on deck. It didn't look that bad but it was for me. As I was sitting out side the surf line studying the surf. A few waves built up out side and caught me by suprise. I was able to back paddle over two of the three but I dropped off the back side of the third and took a dip No gear lost just some pride. I must of look like a green and red michelin man with the waders full of water. I was off the water by 10:30. I suck I need to get out more! Good luck to all who make it out this week

That was a dicey landing Steve - lots of folks lost it today. It's not looking that promising the rest of the week, either. That wind/swell/current trio had me paddling 10 strokes on the left to every one stroke on the right on my paddle back in.

Sounds gnarly. Nothing worse than a long paddle back in only to be greeted by thumpin surf.
