Can you camp on or near La Jolla beach/Launch?

I have Tuesday and Wednesday off next week and the weather/tide/swell at La Jolla looks like it's going to be fantastic. I'm wondering if anybody knows if you can camp on the beach or if there's someplace near the beach that you can camp? I was thinking about fishing on Tuesday, spending the night, and fishing on Wednesday.

La Jolla is one of the most upscale, up tight, nieghborhoods in SD county. No campin at all. The nearest camping that comes to mind is maybe Campland on the Bay in mission bay. Beach camping is available at San Elejo state beach but you generally need reservations 6 months in advance. Maybe try the a koa or qthousand trails?? Mike

+1 for Campland. It's an easy 10 minute drive from camp site to the launch. Doing that makes for a fun 2 day LJ fishing trip if you're not from the area.
