Quick Idea I had

I bought the rod holder gear bag for my apex seat, i know most people have longer paddle strides than me so try this out if you are having issues bumping the rods:

I put extra clips from an old life vest on the side of my bait tank, and clipped it on, when the tank is full and the battery is in the bag, the rod holders are solid.

plus the viejas card holder bungee thingies tied to/ zip tied to shimano rod wraps for leashes, hell yea, nifty is the word :-)

i also must say my first time in la jolla i paddled by you and felt some of your aura :-) but i've never seen so many rods on a yak. I believe that was the same trip i caught my black.
