i just tied my first batch of saltwater fly's

i will b doing a test run tomorrow @ san diego bay on my kayak ..tieing fly's is addicting ...if u wana go i will cu @ 6:00am IMG_0293.jpg

Nice! I have only tried fly fishing salt once and it was pretty tricky from the kayak. I grew up fishing streams in the sierras and love to fly fish, but I have really been enjoying catching fish with my spinning rod and bait caster. Do you do well in the bay and in the surf?

I'll bet you I caught that same halibut a few weeks ago based on the location of the bridge pilings in the background! Very nice results indeed!

Picture #3 doesnt look familiar though - DP harbor maybe?

When I was in the So. Cal Fly shop on Sunday they were showing me pictures of big Halibut and Leopard sharks being caught at the lagoon outlets on the north county beaches. They were using 6 and 8 weight rods and small minnow patterns. Everything I've been tying is too big (1/0 clousers and decievers), so now I've got to get busy and tie smaller flies on #4 and #6 hooks. Now's the time to hit the beach with the fly!

this halibut from san diego was small the legal one a few weeks ago was @ newport picture #3 was @ newport good luck....
