DP 04-06

Bait - HUGE sardines.
Water - Cool and dirty
Conditions - not too bad, light wind from the WSW, some large swells, had to be watched in the shallow areas.

No Halibut this trip, just a keeper sandie and a 4.5 +\- foot Leo, nice fight on the light tackle.

Unfortunately the Leo went to the crabs by accident, equipment failure, no more aluminum carbingers!!!

HI Dave, Deniz here....nice to meet you last Saturday, and thanks for showing me around, was a nice day on the water. Unfortunate about the Leo, she was a monster! All the best and hope to see on the water soon, this Sat maybe...?

Nice fishing with you too Deniz! I should be out there Saturday barring any unforeseen events or weather issues.

Who ordered this wind?!?!

To be honest, I catch them mostly fishing shallow for halibut. Sliding sinker rig on or near the bottom in anywhere from 10-20' deep, or your typical halibut rig in the same area, either works just fine. Look for some structure or weeds or something. Live bait works the best, sardines, or even chovies.
