Cabrillo harbor

Got up at 4, loaded the gear and tha yak, out at 5, at the launch at 6. Met these two other yakkers just as i was going to launch, one in a santa cruz raptor and one in a pa 14. Paddled over to the bait barge got a scoop of dines, great sizes, and trolled around a bit. Didnt get much action but then i get slammed all of a sudden on the sardine in 50' of water and the line starts peeling like crazy and as i get the rod it pops off. Reeled in the rig and the trap hook was gone and the line was cut from the 3 way swivel. I trolled a bit more, saw another yakker in a yellow 4.7 without any action. It was 11 so time to head in so i bounceball back then get hooked up again. Im reeling this guy in and its peeling line off my sx like nothing. I thought it would be a nice Hali but it comes up and i see its not even legal, these things got some muscle.

Now about that mystery fish, it was like a freight train, it had an initial bite then started to run like there was no tomorrow like there was no drag on it. I didnt feel any headshakes just pure weight and speed. The bait was ok when i brought it up but the trap hook was cut about 5 inches from the hook. The thing is though, after the fish broke off i saw a few dolphins jumping pretty close to me and that was the direction the fish ran.

Pics soon.

Where were you team sewer guys at? I didn't see any of you out there. Luckypig, it was nice seeing you out there, I forgot to as if you were on BWE or not.

A Dolphin surfaced over here

My bait after the mystery bite

I guess a Thresher

My buddy hooked a thresher shark out there last year around this time, there were a few bait balls of diens from the bait receiver to the channel.
