I've been on the internet for two weeks now looking for sale's, so far all I've found is $649 for the gps/sonar unit with the 83/200 transducer and $749 for the gps/sonar unit with 50/200 transducer. If nothing goes on sale this week or if I can't find anything at the FHS I'm just going to call WM and BPS and ask them what their best price is.

The GPS store online has the Inland lakes chart with 83/200 for $629. Cart prices are almost always lower because they can't advertise the prices.

It doesn't look like the rebate applies to that particular model?
Can someone explain to a noob what the different transducers are, and why one over the other? 83/200 versus 50/200 ??? It looks like the only difference between the units is the transducer. Thanks! |

I C It doesn't have any special notes on it so you might qualify for it. Did you ask about it when you purchased it? Now that I see this I'm thinking of getting the unit at WM. Worst case you can complain and they will probably give in and give you store credit if you threaten to return the unit.

Uh-oh... made some calls today and lowrance isn't honoring the rebate the talking to WM, they don't know what to do. Thinking of going jorluivil's route and buying it anyway and raising stink later. Come hell or high water an hds5 is going in my kayak.

Jim, I am using the (cut) thru hull one by Airmar but would not recommend it. They all seem to have the same problem with the connector on the end. It does not connect solidly with the wire sheathing. The sheathing will slip out of the connector and allow water to corrode the connections. They come with a 2 year warranty, but you just about have to take them to court to get them to honor it. Anybody using one right now, I would suggest that you goop the wire to connector connection. It is a bummer, because the transducer provides a sleek, solid uninterrupted water connection.
