Intro

Hey wsup everybody. I just wanted to introduce myself. New to the site and new to kayak fishing. Just got my yak last weekend. Only been out once. Hit Oceanside harbor on Sunday. Good first time experience. Anyway I'm looking forward to sharing tips, info, and hopefully some good stories. Thanks everybody.

I already know that's gonna be hard. I'm gonna keep it easy though. Probably stick to Oceanside harbor for a while. Hopefully I can out of the bays before summer is over.

Piece your arsenal together slowly. I think of my gear as tools, each has a purpose and all supplement each other. So if $$$ is an issue (which it is for me) I'll stake out what I want and only get it when I can afford it. So you've made the plunge and got your yak, now start out with necessary fishing and safety gear. There are threads on here with alot of info as to what is both necessary and quality. And if you don't have something you need, chances are you'll realize it when your OTW. WELCOME

All the fishing gear is there. The kayak came with everything except the safety stuff. That's what I gotta get. I'm thinking GPS, compass, airhorn, flare gun, and a emergency locator beacon.

Welcome from one neewb to another, two trips so far, around Mission Bay, am going to take multiple trips in sheltered areas prior to kelp beds so I get to know my limitations and learn what I need to add as I figure things out. I have found reviewing past posts with photos gives an idea of what bits and pieces I need.

Thanks, I'm going about it the same way. I wanna make sure as I can that I'll be ok out there. I hope to get MB sometime soon. Sounds like the fishing is alot better there than Oceanside.
