Insomniac crew. I get off work at two. Taking my kid fishing in a couple hours.
A majority of the time I fish, i don't sleep. Sometimes a couple hours is nice

Been fishing since childhood. Still get excited for every single fishing trip. Thoughts of pulling on that 45 pound Hali prevent me from getting serious sleep.
I did get to do a few late morning (8 am) trips.....man, that was nice. I find that a couple good drinks before bed time helps. |

When I was working graveyard it wasn't uncommon for me to meet the boys after work. Work started at 1030pm, off at 6am-ish, fish until 2pm-ish, home by 4pm-ish, take the wife out to dinner or wherever, back home by midnight-ish, sleep and because I was am an early riser I would be back up by 7am-ish.
GOOD TIMES

Sleep?
My pop started taking me fishing when I was around 7 or 8 yro. Because I had to BEG him to take me fishin (only boys fish!), when he finally gave in to me, I was soooo excited! When I was a kid, I could NEVER sleep before a fishing trip. Still can't. I dream of that first kayak YT...j

When I was young it was really bad before every trip. Now I am able to sleep fine, except when I go on day or 1.5 day trips. I can barely sleep on the way out, tried everything but nothing lets me sleep on the way out. On the way in, sleep like a baby.
When I was a teen i used to fish the LB Naval shipyard mole with my buddy and his dad (retired). I'd always spend the night at his place the night before. Several times, my buddy, after not being able to sleep all night, fell asleep right before we left at 4 in the morning, and wouldn't get up. We'd leave him and he'd meet up with us around 10. |

I'm lucky if I get 3hrs, usually 1 or 2hrs. Plenty of sleepless nights before fishing too. Mothership trip, forget about it.

I sleep at 12-1 at night and wake up at 4-5 in the morning. Even a short 30 minute nap makes a huge difference though.

I always get pre-fishing insomnia and it sucks.
When I'm freediving it can be dangerous to go with no sleep. I like to make a pint glass of strong Chamomile tea with 2-3 bags in it. It totally relaxes you until you're knocked out and you are not drowsy when you wake up.
