Hoop netting question

So I'm getting setup for a hoop netting trip. I haven't done this before so I hear people talking about glow sticks? Are these installed down where the bait is attached to the net?

no the glow sticks are usually attached to your float/bouy up top, so you can more easily locate it and for other people to see.

To the float so you can find it in the dark.
Hit me up and I'll join you when you go out.
I have alot of bait I need to get out of my freezer!

Yes, to the float but you have to make you make sure the opposite side/bottom of the float is weighted down so that the light stick is always on top of the water column. Do a search and you'll find some pics.

Thanks guys. The reason I was confused is I saw a glow bait basket advertised and wondered. That's what happens when you think too much. Do any of you bother taking rods out with you? I was thinking they would just get in the way.

I thought about doing that my first trip out. I am sure glad I didn't! With the way I have my gear positioned on the yak, it'd just get in the way. Not to mention I was fumbling around with everything I touched... Not worth it to me! At night it's nice to just sit and look at the stars every now and then. Just my $.02!

Good luck out there.

I just started this year too. Go to Jim's site http://www.sabaslayer.com/html/hooping-tips.html good checklist on what to bring. Also reflective marine tape works well with a spot light to find your traps if you place them out to far from one another.
